Many primary and high school students in Kenya aren’t able to continue going to school as they cannot afford the uniform and the textbooks that they require. Although primary and secondary education is free in Kenya, the child’s family is still responsible for buying textbooks and uniforms. By providing uniforms to primary school students and textbooks to high school students, they are able to receive an education, break the cycle of poverty and pave the way to a bright future.
If a child is going to school, getting an education and needs textbooks and uniforms, that means they are unable to contribute to the family’s income. As many families live on less than one dollar a day and already struggle to put food on the table, school and education creates an overall loss in a family’s earnings and leads to many children dropping out or not going to school at all.

We are a hands-on, family-oriented grassroots charity that works directly with vulnerable children and youth in Kenya to help transform their lives and achieve self-reliance through education, compassionate care and skills training. Education is our number one priority because we believe that the prospects for a promising future are linked to great education. We send every HHFL child to quality schools and strive to lay a solid academic foundation that will lead to gaining marketable skills and sustained employment. A strong body and mind requires a combination of love, good nutrition, medical care, recreation and training such as hard skills like computers and soft skills like discipline, respect and teamwork. We believe that when you combine all of these ingredients with goal setting and good old fashioned hard work, the odds point to self-reliance. This is our ultimate measure of success.
