Refugees have experienced many extremely stressful events because of political or religious oppression, war, migration, and resettlement. After finally arriving at the shelter the children feel very lost and lonely. Immediately providing them with dry clothes and blankets is the first and necessary step to accommodate these children and one way to show them they are finally safe.
Nearly half of all refugees are children, and almost one in three children living outside their country of birth is a refugee. These children are mostly separated from their parents, brothers and sister, and family in general. The children are traumatized and have nowhere to go and feel lost. The aim of the refugee shelter is to protect families from outside dangers and create spaces inside to protect their privacy and bring back feelings of security. Refugees need basics to sustain their lives and refugee children, in particular, need a safe environment and a chance to play and go to school.
Your impact donation is helping to achieve the below Sustainable Development Goals developed by the United Nations.
We are an organization set up to address the needs of refugee children, who arrive in Greece alone. The refugee children are moved from the streets, camps, police stations, detention centers and brought to the safety of special set up homes where they receive a holistic network of child protection services with the ultimate aim of social inclusion. We are operating 11 homes with a capacity of 220 children receiving a holistic network of services covering food, shelter, and material, medical, psycho-social, and legal support. All the children we serve obtain immediate access to education and training.
