On March 28th, the province of Cebu, where Mandaue is located, declared a province-wide lockdown for 30 days due to the global pandemic (Covid-19). This means all non-essential work has to stop. This measure puts the most vulnerable families, who earn less than USD 5 a day and rely on the informal economy to survive are at immediate danger of not having any food during the lockdown. FundLife is responding by making emergency relief packs for distribution to the most vulnerable people to ensure they have the means to survive and keep their families safe.
The Filipino working class are crucial for the functioning of almost everything in the Phillipines. They also desperately need their day's wages, but this puts them or their loved ones at risk of contracting the novel coronavirus. They are squished into trains, buses, and jeepneys, and don't have easy acccess to masks or other personal protective equipment. The working class are required to be mobile - as garbage collectors, cooks, food servers, jeepney and bus drivers. These jobs not only facilitate mass transmission of the virus, put themselves at high risk of contraction. Often these workers are paid no sick leave, and many work in the 'informal economy' with fewer employment rights. This means they are likely to work no matter the cost, which puts the entire Filipino population at risk.

We believe that no child should be denied quality education and equitable opportunities to reach their fullest potential. Through play, we inspire children to dream, encourage them to believe, and empower them to achieve. Play is the natural way to learn and helps children build confidence, promotes motivation, and develops social skills, cognitive function, and mastery of their physical world.
