Food insecurity and malnutrition has always been a major issue for vulnerable and homeless people all over the world. There are over 40 million Americans facing hunger every day, so food banks all over the country provide a wide variety of food, from fresh fruits and vegetables to packaged foods, to allow their hungry population to adequately feed themselves and their families and to solve the hunger issue.
Food is a human right and no one deserves to go to bed at night feeling hungry. Nutritious meals are crucial for homeless people and low-income families to support their immune systems and give them the energy to go through the day. Packaged foods like ready meals, peanut butter and instant soup are an easy source of food for homeless people and low-income families.

Westside Food Bank is an independent non-profit corporation which provides food to social service agencies on the Westside of Los Angeles County. Our food often enables low-income people to stay in their homes, deterring the problem of homelessness, because it saves them from having to make the agonizing choice between paying for rent or food when they can’t afford both. Receiving our food also enables our 70 member-agencies to devote more of their own resources to other ways of helping clients achieve self respect and economic independence.
