More than 35,000 households - about 8% - in Hawaii are food insecure and an estimated 15,000 people are homeless, both of whom require food and meal programs to feed themselves. Project Hawai’i Inc.’s Kids Against Hunger program provides hot, nutritious meals to children and their families who suffer from food instability.
Food is a human right and no one deserves to go to sleep at night feeling hungry. Hot, nutritious meals are important for homeless children and families and food insecure households as they support their immune systems and give them the energy to go through the day.

At Project Hawai'i Inc. is we help our islands keiki (children in Hawaiian) break the cycle of poverty. We enhance their lives by providing year round services that help to build their self-esteem and learn the proper life and social skills to succeed. Our keiki live in poverty stricken situations and substandard housing spread across the islands. Some live along the waters’ edge in tents or high in the mountains in abandon cars or substandard makeshift shelters. Most live without running water or electricity and often go to bed without having a single meal. Many live without the simple basics of a blanket for warmth or a pillow for comfort.
